Job Description


We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Cold Room Stock Controller. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and maintain inventory levels within the cold storage facility. The Cold Room Stock Controller will be responsible for monitoring stock levels, conducting regular stock checks, and ensuring that all products are stored and rotated correctly to maintain quality and freshness.

Key Responsibilities:

Cold Room Team Leader – Duties & Responsibilities

Stock Quality & Compliance

  • Monitor and report overstock, quality issues, and high-value stock risks.
  • Inspect all incoming produce to ensure it meets the company's quality specifications.
  • Verify delivery quantities, identify irregularities, and report deviations immediately.
  • Ensure only produced stock meets company's standards is accepted into cold storage.
  • Ensure all incoming stock is photographed, recorded, and captured accurately on arrival.

Cold Room Operations

  • Oversee stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) on all lines and in bulk storage.
  • Replenish stock to production lines accurately and timeously.
  • Ensure all stock is correctly labelled (Farmer Name, Date Received, Product, etc.).
  • Manage daily bulk stock counts and ensure accurate recon of physical vs system stock.
  • Monitor and record all waste, ensuring correct documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and manage write-offs in line with company standards.

Cold Chain, Housekeeping & Compliance

  • Ensure cold room temperature, hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
  • Enforce proper cold chain handling practices for all fresh produce.
  • Ensure safe storage, stacking, and handling of goods according to cold room protocols.
  • Identify risks in storage areas and take proactive action to prevent stock damage or contamination.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and guide cold room assistants in daily tasks and rotation requirements.
  • Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to operational standards.
  • Support training of new staff on cold chain, quality handling, and stock rotation processes.


Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in inventory management or warehouse operations preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a cold storage environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
